Khorixas FM community radio station was launched recently in Namibia. The station was set up with funding assisntance of UNESCO Office on Namibia. The Founder of the Khorixas Community Centre and the radio station Mr Alois Gaweseb, actually hit the ground running. The equipment was received in Khorixas (supplied by In a Box Innovations, Australia) around June 2015 but already the station is active making a differnce to the community.

“Khorixas CMC will help the community to analyze its needs in detail, and thinks about the causes of its problems and marginalization. KCMC will be dealing with local issues in the local languages, relevant to local problems and
concerns and its aim is to serve as a communication and information platform for the community’s development and social needs, help the community to develop culturally, and economically.
An effective strategy for KCMC is to present what cannot be offered by any other radio station; that is local flavour,
will dwell on its strongest reasons for existence and local events, issues, concerns responsibilities, development of
Khorixas town and social change.” as stated in a report from KCMC.
